Spread the news

Karnataka’s senior police officer DGP Ramachandra Rao strongly denied all allegations on Monday, claiming the viral video showing him with a woman in his office was created using artificial intelligence technology. The officer called it a “systematic conspiracy” to destroy his reputation. Hours after his statement, the Karnataka government suspended him from service following public outrage over the controversial footage. This news has sparked all around India and become a heated political debates across the state.

The suspension came after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah ordered a preliminary inquiry into the matter. Speaking to the media, DGP Ramachandra Rao maintained his innocence and said he was shocked to see the video that went viral on social media platforms.

What DGP Ramachandra Rao Said About the Viral Video

DGP Ramachandra Rao came out strongly against the allegations. He told reporters that the video was completely fake and made using modern AI technology. “This is a systematic conspiracy to tarnish my image and destroy my professional reputation. I have also seen the video today. It is completely manipulated and created using AI technology,” the officer stated.

He claimed he first saw the video on Monday itself. According to him, someone had used old footage from eight years ago to create this fake video. “I am shocked. It is all fabricated, lie. The video is all false. I have no idea about it,” Ramachandra Rao said while speaking to news agencies.

The senior IPS officer tried to meet Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara to explain his side of the story. However, he could not get the meeting. After leaving the minister’s office, he told reporters that the video might be based on something from his Belagavi posting eight years back. “I am also thinking how and when it happened and who has done it. In this era anything can happen. I have no idea about it,” he added.

Ramachandra Rao insisted that someone was plotting against him. He said it was a planned effort to ruin his career and public image. The officer expressed confidence that the truth would come out during the investigation.

Karnataka Government Suspends DGP Despite His Denial

The Karnataka government did not accept DGP Ramachandra Rao’s explanation. On Monday evening, the state administration suspended him from his position as Director General of Police at the Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement. The suspension order stated that he acted in an improper manner that brought embarrassment to the government.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah made it clear that no officer would be spared if found guilty. He said the government learned about the video on Monday morning. The CM revealed that the viral clip actually contains three different videos stitched together. “No one is above the law, notwithstanding how senior the police officer is,” Siddaramaiah declared. This India news became a major talking point as the CM promised strict action.

The Chief Minister assured the public that a proper investigation would be conducted. He said disciplinary action would definitely be taken if any misconduct is proven, regardless of how senior the officer might be.

State Minister for Women and Child Development Laxmi Hebbalkar also supported the CM’s decision. She said the government would act without mercy if the allegations turn out to be true. The minister emphasized that seniority would not be a shield for anyone found guilty of wrongdoing.

Opposition Demands Strict Action; BJP Attacks Congress

The opposition parties jumped on this controversy to attack the ruling Congress government. They demanded immediate suspension of DGP Ramachandra Rao and a thorough investigation into the entire matter.

BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla strongly criticized the Karnataka government on Tuesday. He said the incident shows the poor state of law and order in the state. “This is the state of affairs of law and order in Karnataka under Congress government. A DGP level police officer’s videos have surfaced in social media where he is exploiting, he is doing intimate acts with multiple women and that too inside public police office. This is the state of affairs,” Poonawalla stated.

The opposition also accused the Congress government of trying to protect influential officers like Ramachandra Rao. They claimed the government was not acting quickly enough in the interest of justice and transparency.

Past Controversies Surrounding the Officer

This is not the first time DGP Ramachandra Rao has been in the news for wrong reasons. The officer was earlier involved in a major gold smuggling case. His stepdaughter, Kannada actress Ranya Rao, was convicted in July 2025 for smuggling gold worth crores from Dubai to India.

After that case came to light, questions were raised about official protocols being broken. The government then sent Ramachandra Rao on compulsory leave on March 15, 2025. He was out of duty for several months before being reinstated and given his current posting.

The connection to the gold smuggling case has added more fuel to the current controversy. Many people are questioning how an officer with such a background was given an important position again.

What Happens Next

The purported viral video reportedly shows the senior police officer in his official chamber with women. Some clips show him in uniform while others show him in casual clothes. The videos have been widely shared on television channels and social media platforms.

The government has now launched a formal inquiry into the matter. Ramachandra Rao will remain suspended during the investigation period. He will receive subsistence allowance as per rules but cannot leave his headquarters without written permission from the state government.

The case has raised serious questions about behavior standards in the civil services. It has also highlighted the need for better monitoring systems in government offices. While Ramachandra Rao insists the video is AI-generated and fake, the investigation will determine the truth.

The officer has said he will consult his lawyers and take legal action against those spreading what he calls false information. The final outcome will depend on what the government inquiry reveals in the coming weeks.
